The best place to start would be at the beginning. I first started to write ‘A Kolkata Love Story’ as a challenge in 2005. I used to share my writing (mostly short and sad stuff) with a few people, a very closed circle. There was a woman I knew (her name shall not be mentioned) and she asked me whether I could write something funny and that’s when I wrote the first few pages of the book and shared it with her. She said, ‘It made me smile.’
I left the book halfway through and got busy with other things. Recently while going through my computer files of what was left incomplete I found this and resumed my work, after almost thirteen years!
The book contains a bit of Benglish (Bengali written in English) and Hinglish (Hindi written in English) some may have trouble reading it, but I’ve provided the closest translation to those words. Why? you may ask, well I was writing this purely for passion and shared it with a close set of friends for a few good laughs, I didn’t want to change the original content.
The poems in the book were also written by me. Maybe, I’ll publish my collection of poems someday, let’s see.
It’s not an easy job writing something, especially if it has to be funny. I’ve tried to make it as funny as possible but then again that’s for you to decide. I hope you enjoy reading the book. Let me know what you think in the comments.
